Cracked this after a particularly crappy 10 hour work day at the office. It's kinda basic for all the hype the package makes it out to be. A little too foamy. Very unimpressive. Anheuser-Busch's other latest 40oz'ers, Hurricane HG & Busch Ice, are much better choices. Drinkin this with a steak dinner. Pistachios, sour cream & cheddar potato chips, & peanuts for dessert. Swill's easy, but even that is boring. Zero buzz. Overall 4/10 swills for being BORING.

Budweiser Select is the equivalent of someone pouring Bud Light into a cup of ice and letting the ice melt. The taste is faint, to say the least, and the only thing that took me a while about the 40 is to finish it. There is no bloat factor, it is essentially just drinking water. By the end of the 40, I felt hyper instead of drunk in the least... no buzz, no swill (the only plus), but a pretty lame 40 overall. The final nail in the coffin has to be the price of it, which is almost twice that of normal 40s here.

I bought this one and then went off to do something else. I accidently left it out so it was kinda warm when i cracked it. This, to me, tastes exactly like natty light. Not a big fan of either. The forty sucks, the 12 oz. are a little better, but still horrible. Regular bud or bud light is way better, stick to those is you insist on drinking the an-busch line. 2 out of 10, on a good day.

Bought this in the summer of 2006, and that's when I drank it. Since then it's disappeared from every liquor store I've been in. I can't say that that's disappointing for any reason other than it being kind of rare and obscure now. It's sold in 12 oz cans everywhere... but it seems like the 40s of it dropped off the face of the planet. Aside from people who wanted to collect it... I don't think anyone cared. I picked it up in 2006 for the sole purpose of adding it to my collection. I paid something outrageous like $3.25 for it. Some of my friends invited me to their work party. I didn't know anyone there except my two friends, but I had nothing else to do, so I decided to go and told them I'd even be the DD. I brought my Budweiser select 40 anyway, figuring that I could easily drink that, and even if I somehow managed to cop a buzz, It'd be long gone by the time I drove home. Went to the party. Didn't know anyone, and wasn't drunk enough or wasn't planning on being drunk enough to really be sociable. So I took my 40 outside the apartment and sat on the curb with it and watched the moon... or fireflies... I don't really remember. No real surprise in this 40. It's essentially Bud Light with effort thrown in to eliminate any aftertaste, or something to that extent? Something to make it "finish clean" the ads for it said. I didn't notice anything like that. It's Bud Light with the tiniest hint of some "sharper" taste lingering. I took my time with it. It was August and hot and condensation completely soaked the brown paper bag I was using. It's boring. That's more or less it. Zero buzz. Maybe because I took my time. But even if I slammed it I don't imagine I'd get much coming in at 4.3% ABV. Finished the 40. Swill was normal light beer flat warmness. Was it terrible? No. Boring? Yes. My designated driving offer didn't stick either. My friends, blackout drunk, convinced themselves that they were perfectly able to drive and no amount of me telling them otherwise would work. They crashed their car, and I went home and added Budweiser Select to my then small 40 collection. ----- 2009 Well, not even two weeks after I finish that first review up top there, but I stumble across this stuff while buying a new
car in the North East Detroit area.

Thanks to SouthLyon40s for this semi-rare 40.
Ferocious noises escaped the mouth of this bottle as I twisted off the cap. I was super tired and flattened feeling and needed a large beer that wasn't too strong so this 40 came in handy. First few swigs were just as I expected, Bud Light. Even though I have very little experience with BL I knew that this was just like it. The last time I had Select it was out of 12oz cans and I got some horrible allergic reaction to something so I have not consumed this in any form since about 2005 or 2006. Gives me a very mellow buzz since I'm tired but that's about it. Raises the question of why this even exists. 5/10 |
