Date Coding - How old is that 40?
All beer has a shelf life, just like any other food product. Anheuser-Busch just puts a "Born On Date" on the bottle, so it's easy, you know when it was brewed, and if it's older than 4 months old, it's not gonna taste as fresh as it could or should. Pabst and Miller products (constituting most of the 40s on the market) are pretty easy as well. There is a 5 digit code (usually in yellow ink) on the neck of the bottle. The first two are the month, the second two are the date and the last single digit is the year. This is NOT when it was brewed, but when it EXPIRES. It might read something like this: 08144, which would mean it expires on August, 14, 2004. City Brewery, High Falls, & some other breweries make a lot of 40s (both their own brands, and contract brewing) like Camo, Lucky Number 7-11, Genesee, and many others, but their date coding is a little harder to read. It's a 4 digit code, and the first three digits are the day it was brewed, the last digit is the year. Hence, 0924 would mean it was brewed on the 92nd day of 2004. There are other variables that effect the quality of your 40 too such as light, temperature, humidity, etc. A 40 that's been sitting in a dark, cool closet or basement might taste fresher than one that's been sitting in a brightly lit refridgerator case at Apu's Liquor Mart, especially in clear or green bottles.

Stick around.
You guys are wanted here by me, and if you keep your head above the water when the bullshit rains down you'll fit in just fine.
The 40oz Crew clique is very tight, so you will never win "e-fighting" (I should trademark that)... even if your beef is against 1 guy at the moment, it'll end up against 6.
There has been more drama & fights on here in all these years than you can imagine. Most of us have had beef with each other at one point or another. But at the end of the day, we're still crew, and we still get together to chill n swill.
